J.A. Kawarsky is a Professor of Music Composition and Theory at Westminster
Choir College of Rider University in
Princeton, NJ. An Iowa native, Dr. Kawarsky, received his training at Iowa
State University and Northwestern University where he studied with Gary C.
White, John Paynter, and Alan Stout. He served as conductor of the Opera
Company of the Negev (Israel), conductor of choirs at University of
Wisconsin Marathon, Artistic Director of the Bergen County
Chorale, and conductor of the Brunswick Symphony. He is founder and Artistic
Director of the New Jersey Gay Men's Chorus and currently conducts the
Lehigh Valley Gay Men's Chorus in Allentown, PA. As a composer and arranger
his works have been performed throughout the United States, Canada and
England. His composition "Prayers for Bobby" premiered in 1996 with Marlo
Thomas narrating and has been performed numerous times within the past two
years throughout North America. His works are published by Southern Music
of San Antonio, Transcontinental, Shawnee Press, and by Yelton Rhodes Music
of Los Angeles.
