Michael Davis is an award-winning composer and flutist active in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. Equally at home with classical as with jazz, gospel and pop, he often creates music that combines these as well as many other elements. His compositions have been performed all over the United States, Canada and England, on music school faculty recitals and by internationally acclaimed musical ensembles including Zeitgeist and the Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus.

He received his bachelor of music degree in flute performance from the University of South Carolina where he also began formal training in music composition. He holds advanced degrees from the Eastman School of Music and Columbia University and has taught flute and music theory at the high school and college level.

Specializing on flutes of bamboo, glass and cedar as well as the modern silver flute, he has performed with the United States Military Academy Band, the Des Moines Symphony, the Minnesota Philharmonic Orchestra, and is a two-time prize winning finalist for the prestigious McKnight Fellowship for Performing Artists.

Dr. Davis is an active freelance musician and member of several musical organizations including the American Composerís Forum, Thursday Musical, the National Music Teacher's Association and the International Native American Flute Association. He maintains a large private teaching studio in flute, composition and music theory. In addition to the works in the Yelton Rhodes Music catalog, he is published by Alry Publications, Etc.
