Elizabeth (Beth) Norton received her Bachelors degree from Smith College, where she studied conducting with Iva Dee Hiatt, G. Roberts Kolb and Donald Wheelock and voice with Karen Smith. She earned a Masters degree in choral conducting from Hartt School of Music, in West Hartford, Connecticut, where she assisted Gerald Mack, Thomas Brooks and Alexander Dashnaw.
Since 1994 she has served as Music Director to First Parish (Unitarian Universalist) in Concord, Massachusetts, leading a dynamic 50-voice adult choir and supervising a vital and varied music program for singers and instrumentalists of all ages and stages.
With the First Parish Choir she has traveled to Eastern Europe and worked to build musical bridges with the congregations partner church in Székelykerestúr, Transylvania (Romania). Beth is active as an amateur violinist in the western suburbs of Boston and has served on the Board of Directors of the Concord Orchestra, the Unitarian Universalist Musicians Network and Choral Arts New England.
Beth takes great delight in her family, making music with others and long walks outdoors.
